State Auditor and rising political star Hector Balderas can add another feather to his impressive cap. He is now on the board of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO)."I'm honored to serve on the NALEO Board with distinguished public servants from throughout the country who are committed to advancing issues that not only are of particular concern to Latinos but to all Americans", Balderas stated. "My primary focus will be educational outreach to Latino communities in an effort to reduce the high school drop-out rate and promote higher educational standards."Balderas is just 35 and is the youngest Hispanic to hold statewide office in the country. He is also the odds-on favorite to be Lt. Gov. if Bill Richardson heads to Washington and Diane Denish moves up to the Governor's Mansion. And being on the 24-person board of a national organization like NALEO can't hurt those prospectsz.
