The latest rumors out of the Barack Obama transition team are that Janet Napalitano will be the head of the Department of Homeland Security. She is currently the Arizona governor and was a strong supporter of Barack Obama during the campaign. CNN says it is all a matter of whether or not she passes the vetting process. Arizona Gov. One source said he believed the final decision depends on the vetting of the Democratic governor, much like the selection of Eric Holder to be attorney general.Also, CNN is reporting, Penny Pritzker is set to lead the Commerce Department -- though Pritzker says no way. Many thought Napolitano would be a candidate for Attorney General, and the Homeland Security pick seems to be coming out of left field, in a way. Napolitano also has a New Mexico connection -- she attended and graduated from Sandia High School. The school that destroyed the soccer dreams of Rio Rancho High School (my high school) in the state playoffs multiple times. She was in Albuquerque (see right) in October and spoke to a group of women business leaders. I don't think I actually wrote about it, but I was there.
